Inquiry Project for Mrs. LeFevre

You have read a fiction and a nonfiction book on similar subjects.  Now you will investigate a question that sparked your interest from reading the books.

Use the database links below to begin your research.

If you choose to use Google, remember to apply the TRAAP test to any website.  Timeliness, Relevancy, Authority, Accuracy, Purpose.

1. Go to your class Padlet to enter your current Inquiry Question and view other students' questions:

    First Period     Second Period     Third Period      Fourth Period

 

2. View this tutorial for notecard help there is no audio, but read the pop-ups.  This is a good refresher for notecard creation and use.

 

3. Go to NoodleTools and Create a New Project using LA Inquiry as the project name. 

 

4. SHARE your project with your teacher and Mrs. Prescott - LeFevreApril2015CLASSPERIOD

 

You will enter your source citations in NoodleTools.  

WHEN YOU DECIDE TO USE A SOURCE, ENTER CITATION.

Do not wait until after you collected the information.

WEBSITE Citation = scavenger hunt for the parts

DATABASE Citation = Go to the bottom of the article and copy the MLA citation, select Database in Noodletools then Use "Quick Cite" to paste the citation

 

You will take your notes on the Notecards.  Keep the NoodleTools window open as you work. 

 

NOTECARDS → New Notecard (ONLY IF YOU HAVE CREATED THE CITATION FIRST!) 

Source → YOU MUST LINK THE CARD TO THE CITATION/SOURCE IN YOUR WORKS CITED

Pages → If it is a book, write what page(s) the notes are from

Quotation → COPY AND PASTE FROM DIGITAL RESOURCES.  Skip to paraphrase if you are using a book. 

Paraphrase → Put what you copied and pasted INTO YOUR OWN WORDS.  Paraphrasing Guide. This will become your paper. 
IF YOU ARE USING A BOOK, just type in the paraphrase unless you would like to use a direct quote from the text in your paper.

Interpret/My Ideas →  What have you learned?  What are you thinking?  Where will you go next

4. Begin researching with database links below using NoodleTools Note cards for Quote - Paraphrase - Interpret Information
